Avoiding Cabin Fever

Becoming socially distant can take a toll on our health, people might find themselves getting a little “stir crazybeing cooped up all day. Many might even start feeling sick from being isolated. If you’re not feeling your best and you’re wondering what’s going on you might have cabin fever. Some symptoms include; restlessness, lethargy, sadness, food cravings, decreased motivation and the inability to cope with stress.

If you are displaying symptoms, it’s important to get on the right track! Follow these tips below to combat these feelings.

1.    Boost Your Immune System!

It’s important to keep your physical health in mind during this time. Yes, we are all trying to avoid getting sick, but you need to make time for proper diet and exercise. There is research showing that being socially distant increases the risk of illnesses such as cardiovascular disease, dementia and depression. Some ideas to get you started would be to drink water, take a walk, and practice yoga!

2.    Set Some Goals!

Create weekly or daily lists of items that are important or things that you’d like to accomplish. This can help you with motivation and feel more accomplished on a daily basis. It’s also a great time to complete things that never seem to get done, like cleaning out the garage, or that guest room closet!

3.    Do Something Different!

Our world and lives are extremely busy. Take this time as an opportunity to connect with a friend you haven’t heard from in awhile. FaceTime, and other video chats can allow for great discussions, while maintaining social distancing! Declare a family game night, play an intense game of monopoly, or cards, this is a good time to put technology away and connect with your family.

It’s important for everyone to practice proper social distancing to help stop the spread of COVID-19. However, by doing so we can start feeling sad and upset being alone all day. By utilizing these tips you can make the most out of your quarantine experience.
