The home and neighborhood security landscape has evolved dramatically over the last several years with the introduction of advanced, “internet of things (IoT)” based technology. However, there lacks an elegant solution that ties all these improvements together to better serve property management companies, HOAs, and residents.
One reason possible reason for the lack of a comprehensive security technology is perhaps the current disconnect between residents and property
management companies on the topic of security.
Our team recently surveyed both property management companies and residents regarding safety and security within their communities. 80% of residents report that security is critical to their happiness and enjoyment in the community they reside in. Surprisingly, we found that improving safety and security does NOT resonate with the majority of property management companies surveyed.
This is more than simply an issue of miscommunication. There is a major breakdown between what property management companies are investing in and what the residents actually desire. A home is the biggest investment most people will make in their lifetime. People need to know their investment, belongings, and most importantly, their family, are safe.
What should property management companies take away from this? It’s simple: make security a priority as soon as possible. Don’t wait until something bad happens to start focusing on implementing security features. Today’s criminals are savvy and opportunistic. This requires a need for comprehensive security, including guards, gates, software, and hardware.
All of these various components can quickly become overwhelming to manage, which leads to the need for a single, cloud-based security and community management platform to ensure true confidence in the safety of your community.
